5. Tough night for Jake Fromm:

It was a tough night for a lot of Dawgs. But few players are as visible as the quarterback and Jake Fromm had a tough week. He completed just 13 of 28 passes for 184 yards and touchdown. His stats look better than they should have considering that his TD was thrown in garbage time.

A lot of fans have been asking for a game where Fromm got to put the team on his back and lead them. With a stuttering running game (more on that later), that’s what they got. Unfortunately, they also were treated to a dose of reality because Fromm didn’t exactly light the scoreboard up.

Now, this wasn’t all his fault. For a lot of the game, he was running for his life thanks to an offensive line that had an absolute shocker. He also wasn’t helped by receivers getting a bad case of the dropsies on a week where he really needed them to make plays.

But Fromm isn’t ready to put the game on his back and go out and beat a top 10 team on the road. And you know what, that’s ok. He’s a true freshman who still has a lot of learning to do. Nobody comes into the SEC and just dominates right away, all QB’s need to learn.

In the long term, Fromm will be better because of today. He’s shown plenty of times that he’s a smart player and this was a learning experience. Fromm had a bad day but he’ll have good ones against Auburn in the future.
