3. Trouble in the trenches:

It wasn’t just the offensive line that had issues in the trenches. Georgia’s defensive front 7 also had a really poor day. The pass rush has been lacking for much of this season and that continued this week. Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy both had very quiet days. The defensive line failed to get much push up-front.

The UGA defensive line was gashed by a running back for the first time this season. That was more credit to Auburn’s offensive line than their running back. Kerryon Johnson had 167 yards on 32 carries but it was the push he got up front that caused that.

Kirby Smart will likely be hopping mad about how both lines played. Both had really poor days and were physically beaten up throughout the game. This was a first for both units, who had previously been so good all season.

One game does not make a season. Both units will have at least 4 more chances to wash the bad taste out of their mouths. They will certainly have lots of tape to watch this week and plenty of evidence in how they can get better.
