2. Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes:

One of the reasons Auburn fans were crowing so hard this weekend is because of the 40-17 scoreline. A 23 point victory, does look like a beatdown and in some ways they’re right. Georgia was never really in the game after the first quarter.

The reason that was the case, however, was just as much due to poor Georgia play than it was good Auburn. Georgia was uncharacteristically sloppy throughout the game. Mecole Hardman fumbled a punt which gave Auburn an easy touchdown. Sony Michel gave away a penalty on special teams.

I could go on and on when it comes to penalties. Georgia had by far its worst game of the season in that regards. They handed the initiative back to Auburn more times than I could count. Almost whenever they had done something good, they undid it with a mindless penalty.

It was just one of those games. Everything that could have gone wrong for Georgia did. And everything that could have gone right for Auburn did. Sometimes that’s just that way the cookie crumbles. It doesn’t, however, make it any easier to watch.
