Smart zeroing in on the trenches:

With Tannor’s departure from the class, Georgia now has 17 commitments. That leaves them 7 available spots and plenty of players for them to target. Tannor was a ‘take’ at the time he committed, but with two higher ranked players in the class, he became a luxury.

While UGA will graduate its two starters at OLB this year, there remains depth there. The 2017 class was strong and so is 2018 at the moment. As important at this position is, it is not a spot where Kirby Smart will overload a class.

That’s because he’s once again zeroing in on another position group. It should be no surprise that it’s the trenches he’s focused on. On the offensive side, UGA is pushing hard to bring in another 3 linemen and there is the good chance they will get them.

It’s on the defense, however, that he is really focused. The defensive line needs more talent and it looks like Georgia will try and take 2, maybe even 3 more big uglies. Jordan Davis is a big man who is trending UGA’s way. Christian Barnmore is another who Georgia is heavily after. Both of these guys are 4-star big men who are comfortably over 300lbs and can move. They would add serious beef up front which is just what Smart wants.

Robert Cooper and  Rick Sandidge are two other big men who UGA have a shot with but are expected to go elsewhere.
