3. Understand what is still possible and stay excited.

I know this one is going to be tough. Saturday’s loss took a little wind out of my sails too, folks. I felt the elation of 9-0 and #1 in the nation and then the feeling of misery that came with the 40-17 loss. It felt like I was walking on a red and black national championship rug and Gus Malzahn and the dirty Plainsmen of Auburn pulled it out from under me.

But this season goes on. The reality is that EVERY goal set at the beginning of the season besides going undefeated is still on the table for this team. A win over Kentucky and a win over Tech would equal an impressive 11-1 season.  With the SEC East title already won, a chance at the SEC championship in Atlanta against the winner of the Iron Bowl is guaranteed. If the Dawgs win out, the SEC Title game winner will have a spot in the College Football Playoff.

So while we still have to play the games,  I feel confident that the Dawgs can win these next 2. That will put them at 11-1 when they go to Atlanta to play the SEC West champ. If someone told me at the beginning of the season we would be rolling into Atlanta with only one loss and a shot at the playoffs, I would have taken it in a New York minute.

So don’t hang your heads and sulk Dawg fans. While we obviously have some work to do to be ready for a beast like Alabama, Kirby has this team in a position to at least have a shot. That’s something to be excited about.
