Georgia football demolishes the Kentucky Wildcats on senior night
Saturday was the last game in Sanford Stadium for many Georgia football players and those players made a grand exit with a 42-13 win over Kentucky.
The Georgia football senior class of 2018 accomplished many things on Saturday. Nick Chubb became the fourth SEC rusher and second Georgia rusher to run for 1,000 yards in three seasons. The class won their 21st game at home. And the 2017 Bulldogs became the first in school history to sweep the SEC East.
But early on against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Bulldogs struggled. Jake Fromm tossed an interception on the first drive which led to a Kentucky field goal. After just one-quarter, Georgia only led 7-6.
That was as close as the game would get however. Georgia cruised downfield for a pair of touchdowns late in the second quarter. With just under five minutes left, Fromm found senior Javon Wims wide open for a 27-yard touchdown pass. Senior Sony Michel sprinted and dove over the pylon with just under two minutes left to give the Dawgs a 21-6 halftime lead.
Kentucky tried to come back with a touchdown drive to open the third quarter, but 21-13 was as close as Kentucky could get the game in the second half. Georgia finished with 21 unanswered points on a two touchdowns by Michel and another by fellow senior Nick Chubb. Michel scored from eight and four yards out, while Chubb ran 55 yards down Kentucky’s sideline to score.
The seniors went out with a win. Georgia won their 10th game and bounced back from last weeks embarrassment. And the Dawgs are still going to the SEC Championship Game. Saturday was a great day for Georgia football fans.

Next: Why this senior class is so special
Although he’s not a senior, junior Roquan Smith likely played his last game in Athens. He finished with nine tackles and a sack. I fully expect to see him playing on Sundays next season. Something is wrong with NFL coaches if he’s not a first round pick.
Aaron Davis ended his proud career with an interception. Davis arrived to Georgia as a walk-on in 2013. After Jeremy Pruitt became defensive coördinator in 2014, Davis began working his way up the depth chart and eventually became a starter. He has started at three different positions in his four seasons; corner back, safety and nickel.
