Georgia Football top five highlights from Senior day
Javon Wims has earned a special place in this team:
If there is one player that I am surprised that I’m mentioning right now, its Javon Wims. Before the season started, I thought Wims would be at best a 3rd or 4th option. He has legit size, but as a JUCO transfer, I never expected him to make much of an impact. I certainly never expected him to become the go-to receiver in a very talented group.
But Wims has become just that. Whether that’s because he and Jake Fromm developed a relationship or not, there is no doubt he has been a revelation this season. While drops have remained an issue for some receivers, that hasn’t been the case with Wims. His sure-handedness has been really impressive.
Wims caught 6 passes and his 4th TD of the year today. He also had several big catches and would have gone over 100 yards had a crazy catch he made been held up. Considering how little UGA throw the ball, his production has been remarkable.
When his size is factored in, I think Wims has a really good shot to get drafted and pretty high. His play this year has reminded me of Chris Conley, a player who has made an impact on the Kansas City Chiefs. Wims deserves a lot of credit for making the most of his opportunity. His hard work really paid off this season and today was no exception.
