Georgia Football top five highlights from Senior day
Some great team defense by the seniors:
Georgia’s defense had another solid if somewhat unspectacular day. They never looked quite as good as they have at sometimes, but they looked in control for much of the game. At no point did they ever seem to struggle with a feisty Kentucky team.
The unit was once again led by their star LB’s. Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy both had solid games and played really great run defense. They played important roles in containing the run and also keeping the pressure on Stephen Johnson for most of the game.
Up front, John Atkins had another solid day clogging up space and blocking the run. He was ably assisted by the younger players and UGA’s defensive line continues to get better.
On the back end, Georgia’s seniors had another solid week. Dominick Sanders and Malkom Parrish both had decent games and put in big hits. Aaron Davis also had a big interception at a crucial time. It was a well-deserved reward for a player who has done a lot for UGA. Few remember that he was once a walk-on and he played his way into a starter.
This is a veteran-led unit that earned their victory and their moment this week. Georgia is going to be a lot younger next year on defense and it might actually be more talented. But these seniors have been fantastic this year and this result was well deserved.
