Georgia Football continues to try and bring in the very best players to Athens as we take a quick look at what the latest news is this week.

Once again, UGA had plenty of recruits in town this past weekend. With the 2018 class shifting a bit last week, things are starting to shake out. Georgia lost OLB commitment Caleb Tannor and gained DT Jordan Davis. There seem to be plenty more top players jostling for those last 6 spots in UGA’s 2018 class.

So let’s take a look at what happened in the recruiting world this past weekend. Unfortunately, we have to start with some bad news as one of UGA’s star recruits had a tough break.

Zamir White tears his ACL:

Obviously, this was not a line I ever wanted to type. Zamir White, the nations no.1 rated RB and one of the most explosive playmakers Georgia has signed in some time tore his ACL this past Friday.

Apparently, it was a relatively innocuous hit and White shook it off. He not only signed plenty of autographs afterward, he came down to Athens for Saturday and spent his day talking to other recruits and trying to build UGA’s 2018 class. He only found out on Monday that his ACL had been torn. That is a seriously tough dude.

It’s a tough blow for White and Georgia. White was expected to come into Athens and push straight away for 10-15 carries a game. White will enroll in January so the good news is that he will be doing his rehab with Georgia’s top-notch medical team. While we won’t be seeing him in spring training or G-day, he will certainly benefit from the mental reps he will be getting.

It’s a tough break but not one White cannot overcome. The guy is a special talent and person and I fully believe he’ll come back stronger. It certainly offers Elijah Holyfield and Brian Herrien a chance to get some more snaps in 2018. White will find a way onto the field as well. It just might take a bit more time than was previously expected.
