UGA has a shot with Kardell Thomas:

Sometimes I kind of think that Sam Pittman likes to show off. Last year, he signed the best OL class UGA has probably ever had. In 2018, there is a legit chance that he could sign 2 or 3 of the top 5 linemen in the entire country. That doesn’t seem to be enough for Pittman though as he continues to push for more and more talent.

Kardell Thomas is another 5-star guard much like Jamaree Salyer. While he’s not quite the prospect Salyer is, 5-star guards are rare. You maybe get 1 or 2 a year at best. Thomas is another special player on the line.

While UGA still hopes to sign Salyer and Trey Hill, Pittman still wants Thomas. He is a Baton Rouge native and has been committed to LSU for some time. Normally this is not the kind of player other schools can bring out of Louisiana. But I’m pretty sure that Sam Pittman doesn’t care about that. He wants all the big men.

He has a reputation for putting guys into the league. Thomas like others seems to want to battle against other top prospects. The ‘iron vs iron’ debate is very valid for offensive linemen and Thomas understands that. He also understands that Georgia is building a running back group that is truly special and will make this OL look even better.

This is going to be a tough battle to win, but it’s a sign of just how UGA is recruiting these days. They have a legit shot at winning a battle that they should never really be in. Welcome to the new age of Georgia recruiting guys.
