Is Quay Walker another LB to watch?

When Tannor decommitted, one of the reasons that came up is the fact that Georgia is still battling it out for several other top-level linebackers. KJ Henry, Otis Reese and Channing Tindall all seem to be considering UGA. However, it seems that there is another name still in the fold and it’s one that we were hearing about this time last year.

Quay Walker is an exciting pass rusher out of Crisp County. He is very close to Markaviest Bryant who was a one-time UGA silent commit. Walker was thought to be a heavy UGA lean, but his friend’s decision and the rumors around it caused Georgia to drop off his recruiting. He committed to Alabama this summer.

Walker was in Athens this past weekend and he seemed to be getting plenty of attention. He had several defensive coaches around him and it’s clear that he is still being recruited. Walker told Dawgnations’s Jeff Sentell afterward that UGA continues to push and that he’s impressed with that.

I don’t know if Walker is going to come to Athens. A lot of bridges were burned during that Bryant decision. I’m also not sure that he’s the best option of the 4 linebackers that UGA is pushing for. But I’m glad to see that the coaches continue to try and build a relationship with a guy who is good enough to commit to Bama. We’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
