Georgia Football: 5 takeaways from UGA’s victory over Tech
Georgia Football finished the regular season with another revenge victory and an 11-1 record.
Well, that’s it for another year Georgia Football fans. Another regular season in the books and our Bulldogs did everything they needed to close this season out in style. UGA crushed their in-state rival Georgia Tech 38-7 in dominating fashion. The senior players who came back to wash the bad taste of last years game out of their mouth did just that. Revenge was secured despite a pretty nasty game.
While I understand rivalry is a big part of college football, too often, the lesser team is simply seeking to start fights. We saw that several times in this game and Kirby Smart and his staff did an admirable job of trying to keep things from boiling over.
If only the same could be said of his opposite number. Paul Johnson seemed to spend most of his time completely ignoring the bad behavior of some of his players. Whether he was complicit in it is another matter, but Tech sure seemed to enjoy throwing cheap shots and trash talking.
Of course, all of that ended up being in vain. They were thoroughly outplayed by a vastly better team than they faced last year. The Triple Option remains a difficult package to play against and of course, it causes injuries. But this year, UGA was ready for it and Tech was toothless for much of the game.
So let’s take a look at our top 5 takeaways from today game. We’ll start with the most obvious, Kirby Smart seems to have figured out the Triple Option.
