Georgia Football: How the Bulldogs can beat Auburn this week
By Mike Stowe
Georgia Football goes into this weekend with a chip on its shoulder against the Auburn Tigers. Here is what they need to do to win the SECCG.
The Georgia Football team’s 2017 regular season has officially come to an end. While that is a sad reality, this team has performed so well that every major goal that was set by them at the beginning of the season is still attainable except for going undefeated. They beat in-state rival Tech by a score of 38-7 to improve to an impressive 11-1. The final College football playoff poll, which was just released, now has the Dawgs sitting at #6 in the country.
While some of our fans seem to be upset with that because Alabama is one spot ahead of us and we lost to the same team, it honestly doesn’t matter at this point. It’s very simple what must happen for the Dawgs to get in the final 4, which will be released in a week. Just win Saturday.
The Dawgs get a rare opportunity as they travel to the new Mercedes-Benz stadium to face the Auburn Tigers who just throttled them 40-17 on November 11th. A chance to avenge a loss to a rival within 3 weeks is very rare. This game will also be a shot for the College Football Playoff. The winner goes to be one of the final four teams in the country that will battle it out over the course of 3 games to decide who is the 2017 NCAA Football National champion. The loser likely goes on to play in a New Year’s 6 Bowl and think about what might have been.
This is it, Dawg fans. Getting us to this game and now winning it is why Kirby Smart was hired as the head coach of the University of Georgia. This is the big one, the main event, whatever you want to call it. Auburn vs. Georgia, the Deep South’s oldest rivalry, will have a round 2 for the SEC championship Saturday with a berth in the playoffs on the line. It doesn’t get much bigger than that, folks.
