Things going for the Dawgs.

There are a few factors such as playing in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in our home state and Auburn having to bear the burden of beating a good UGA team twice within 3 weeks that definitely play into the Dawgs favour. Even with all this stuff I’ve discussed, Auburn will still show up ready to play Saturday.  They’re expecting to win this game, and with the results of the one that was played in Jordan Hare Stadium 3 weeks ago, that’s understandable. But we can win this game. I’m not going to be the guy who just says that because it’s what I want to happen as a fan.

I believe it and I am going to tell you how it can be done. It comes down to 2 simple things and they go hand in hand. I’m talking about offensive line play and quarterback play. Let’s be real for a second.  Auburn’s front 7 pushed us around in the first meeting. People can whine about play calling and want to see more passing plays all they want. None of that is going to work if the offensive line doesn’t man up and block Auburn.

The running game of Georgia was shut down in the first contest. You know how to help Chubb and Michel rush for 100 yards against a defence as stout as Auburns? Block them. Jake Fromm must have the best game of his young career Saturday for the Dawgs to be able to make the Auburn D respect the passing game enough to maybe let some holes open up for the run game. That will be accomplished by our offensive line playing a near perfect game. We need long sustained drives that will keep our defence on the sideline resting and keep the ball out of the hands of their explosive offence.  Once again, that will happen if the offensive line does its job.
