Georgia Football: How the Bulldogs can beat Auburn this week
By Mike Stowe
This is where Sam Pittman comes into play.
There is a reason that Kirby Smart fought so hard to bring in Pittman last year. He is an offensive line guru and he knows all these things. He knows that his unit must have the game of their lives on Saturday. Win in the trenches, and the Dawgs win the game. I know this may be one of those “easier said than done” things. But this team and coaching staff haven’t given me any reason to believe that they aren’t up to the challenge.
They ran into a buzzsaw at Jordan Hare Stadium 3 weeks ago. Alabama ran into that same buzzsaw. Auburn is a really good team right now, but when they are playing in that stadium they are pretty much unbeatable. They are the number 2 ranked team in the nation, and justifiably so. The Dawgs will show up Saturday though.
Look for them to come out passing with multiple play action passes early. Keep an eye out for sophomore Mecole Hardman, who was the one Dawg that they couldn’t stop in the regular season matchup, to be a big factor on special teams and in the passing game once again. I fully expect these upperclassmen like Chubb, Michel, Javon Wims, Lorenzo Carter, and Roquan Smith to play with reckless abandon and make this a much more competitive game.
Next: Kirby Smart has UGA ahead of schedule
Kirby Smart will make sure this team is ready to compete with Auburn Saturday. If the offensive line can play with pride and get more push at the line of scrimmage, everything else will fall into place. Georgia will upset Auburn, win its first SEC championship since 2005, and punch its ticket to the playoffs. That’s what I believe anyway Dawg fans. Can Saturday hurry up and get here, please?
