Georgia Football: How UGA can overcome Auburn on Offence
Time for this offensive line to step up:
We’ll start with the most important bit, shall we? Up front, in the trenches. Just like on the defensive side of the ball, the biggest area of concern for UGA this game is the line. Last year, this unit was a disaster and it cost the Dawgs multiple games. we’ve seen real improvement from this unit for far in 2017 but they had a bad week against Auburn.
Since that game, Kirby Smart has inserted Ben Cleveland into the right guard spot instead of Solomon Kindley. Cleveland is a massive human being, even bigger than Kindley and he’s actually played pretty well. He’s still very young and he’s learning every play, but the talent is obvious.
It will be interesting to see what the Dawgs do on the line this week. I would expect Cleveland to keep his spot considering how well he has played. I also could see Kindley sliding to left guard in some sets to add extra beef in the interior. Both of these guys are pushing 350lbs and will be tough to move even for Auburn’s defensive line.
Our writer Mike did a great piece earlier this week about the OL and why it’s so important in this game. I can only echo what he stated. This will be where the game is won and lost for Georgia. This unit has been really good this year, they just need to go out and show it this week.
