Georgia Football: How UGA can overcome Auburn on Offence
Jake Fromm has to play the game of his life:
Now we come to the most difficult part. I hate to put a ton of pressure on a guy like Jake Fromm. He has been fantastic for this team since he stepped in after Jacob Eason’s injury and has done nothing to deserve losing his job. He had a bad game against Auburn, but so did a lot of players. That loss was certainly not on him.
However, to beat a team as good as Auburn is going to take an improved performance from everyone. That includes the quarterback. UGA is going to have to run a more open gameplan this week if they are going to overcome Auburn’s defence. That means that Fromm is going to have to do more than he ever has before.
In the first game, Fromm missed a couple of crucial passes, both to open receivers. He was flustered at times because of pressure and simply didn’t make plays he should have. That can’t happen again this Saturday. If UGA is going to win, he is going to need to play the game of his life.
That’s a lot to ask a true freshman. I want to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with Fromm if he falls short this week. The guy is a gamer who has a very promising future and not just at UGA. But unless the Tigers show up and fall flat on their face, Georgia is going to need Fromm to play lights out. That’s just what its like to be a top flight QB in the SEC.
