When Georgia Football hired Kirby Smart, they were hoping he would take them to the promised land. He has done just that in 2 years.

What an amazing time it’s been lately for Georgia Football.  The Georgia Bulldogs are officially the 2017 SEC champions after dismantling the Auburn Tigers 28-7 this past Saturday in Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta. With the SEC title came an invite to the “Granddaddy of Them All” the Rose Bowl to face Oklahoma along with a trip to the College Football Playoff.

The Dawgs are now officially one of only 4 remaining teams with a chance to win the national title. They join number 1 seed and defending national champion Clemson, Rose Bowl opponent and Big 12 champ Oklahoma, and fellow SEC member Alabama. Two more wins and the Georgia Bulldogs are national champions. How unbelievable and amazing is that? While this was obviously a team effort, there is no doubt that Kirby Smart has changed things at UGA.

In just 2 short years, this guy has done the unthinkable. In his very first head coaching job, he took over a team that had all the resources, support and access to great recruits that any program could ever ask for. Georgia football is a national brand that has amazing support across the United States, not just here in Athens.

But this program had been underachieving for some time under previous head coach Mark Richt, who as you all know, is now the head coach at the University of Miami and has enjoyed some success there this season himself. The move seems to have worked out well for both sides.
