Plenty of players will take their time:

There is a good chance that UGA ends up with 2, maybe even 3 more 5-star recruits before Christmas arrives. Right now, UGA has 3 in Fields, White and Adam Anderson. If UGA signs just 2 of the names mentioned in the previous page, they are on course for a special class.

That being said, fans should not get worried about those players who choose not to sign. Even if Fields decides to wait until February, he’s still not going to flip. It’s just worth remembering that signing early is often in the best interest of the school rather than the kid. That’s something that fans need to think about.

Players like Fields and Adam Anderson have made several decisions at this point. They have been heavily recruited for a long time and they likely want the process to end. But they don’t need to make a decision until February. With all the coaching changes that we’re seeing, they may want to wait, just to confirm that their guys are still going to be at Georgia. That’s totally fine and it doesn’t mean they aren’t loyal.

What this new period does mean however is that teams like Tennessee who took weeks to find a new head coach are in for a rough few weeks. Jeremy Pruitt has less than 14 days before his first signing day and he also has the playoffs to prepare for. The Vols have been bleeding recruits for a month so he’s not going to get much sleep…

Fortunately, UGA fans will likely have a much nicer experience this first early signing period. Santa should be bundling up one or two surprises under the tree in terms of 5-star talent. So on December 20th, maybe see if you can pull a sick day. You should have plenty to toast to less than a week before Christmas.
