Who could be in the fold to replace Sherrer:

It will be interesting to see who Smart targets to replace Sherrer. Outside linebacker is a really important position in Kirby Smart’s defense. That’s where he generates a lot of his pass rush from. He also loves athletes like Lorenzo Carter who give him plenty of flexibility.

In short, this is an important position for Kirby and so this hire is going to be important. Not only will he need to find someone who can coach his guys up, but he also needs a great recruiter. Georgia needs to keep it’s current OLB recruits for the 2018 class and it has an eye on 3 5-star prospects.

There are plenty of names out there right now. Bo Davis was a recruiting lunatic and a heck of a coach at Bama. The problem is that he was hit with a show clause this year and is unable to recruit off campus until 2019. I can’t see Kirby bringing a guy like that in. He likes his guys to be out on the trail.

Tosh Lupoi has the same position at Bama and is close to Kirby. If he doesn’t get promoted in Tuscaloosa, he could be an option. I can’t see him wanting to stay if he gets passed over again. That being said, I think Saban will reward him. Other names to keep an eye out for are Ken Norton Jr and Tyson Sommers. No matter what, I fully expect Kirby to hire a beast. Athens is looking like a great place for coaches to come to right now.
