Could other coaches leave?

Right now, it looks like UGA has held off the wolves. Georgia has plenty of talented coaches on the staff that other programs would want. Mel Tucker interviewed for the Tennessee HC job and ended up as a finalist. He lost out to Pruitt but its only a matter of time before he gets his shot. That being said, it looks like UGA should have him for another year.

Perhaps the crown jewel of UGA’s assistant coaches is Dell McGee. McGee was a surprise hire when Smart brought him in as running back coach. Previously he had held the same position at Georgia Southern. But McGee has delivered and become one of the best recruiters in the entire nation.

He has been the lead recruiter for Zamir White, D’Andre Swift, James Cook and Justin Fields. He’s won all of those battles and is one of the most important members of Smarts coaching staff. Other schools will surely be trying hard to steal him from UGA.

For now, it looks like McGee is staying at Georgia. He’s likely going to end up with a sizable pay rise and I can see him staying for a while. Smart loves excellent recruiters and McGee is just that. Unless a big time coordinator position is offered to him, look for UGA to keep finding a way to keep him in Athens.
