Georgia Football started the December recruiting period with a big-time signing. The Dawgs got a commitment from the nations no. 2 guard Trey Hill.
Georgia Football beat Auburn again. Yep, Kirby Smart got one over Gus once again on Monday. The nations number 2 offensive Guard Trey Hill committed to UGA last night. This was considered to be a two way battle between the Dawgs and Auburn. Hill felt a strong pull towards Auburn, particularly due to them losing 4 linemen this season. In the end, however, he decided to stay home and join the Sam Pittman revolution.
Hill played with current UGA QB Jake Fromm in high school. His decision to follow his former teammate is a big deal for UGA. Hill is a massive physical prospect who could be an All-American at guard. Also, good lord that’s a crazy commitment video! If he’s working that hard now, I can’t wait to see what UGA’s S&C team do with the guy. Hill will be an early enrollee much like Fromm was and will sign his paperwork on December 20th.
While Auburn could have offered him quicker playing time, I think Hill made a good decision for his long-term career. It was clear this season, that Sam Pittman is one of the best in the business at developing talent. He has turned Isaiah Wynn into a legit NFL prospect despite his size.
At Georgia, Hill will battle against the best every single day. That’s going to make him a better player in the long run. We’ve seen the same with Justin Fields, Zamir White and others. UGA is building an incredibly deep roster right now. Truly elite players understand that the competition makes them better. They also know that rosters like this have the chance to win championships.
