Georgia Football 2018 recruiting class starting to shape out
Stop panicking about Justin Fields, he’s not going anywhere:
One name that seems to be everywhere right now on forums and recruiting sites is Justin Fields. There seems to be a great deal of panic being spread throughout UGA message boards that Fields is going to flip. Dan Mullen’s hire at Florida and then Willie Taggerts move to FSU seems to have ignited fear that Fields will leave to one of these programs.
While anything can happen in recruiting, that all seems like hogwash to me. Fields has already gone through one decommitment and I just don’t see him doing it again. Add in the fact that he would be leaving his home state school, that a lot of his family love and a recruiting class that he helped to build and I’m sorry, but I just don’t see any logic in him flipping.
Fields is supposed to just walk away from all the hard work he’s put in over the past few months at UGA for what? The chance to play for Willie Taggert? A coach that owns a 47-50 head coaching record and who has never coached an NFL QB. Wouldn’t have thought so.
The same goes for Florida. Dan Mullen has plenty of work to do just to keep his current QB commit Matt Corral. He reached out to Fields, just like Taggert because that’s their job, but both of them probably know that this is a lost cause. They can boast that they’re going to sign him all they want, maybe it will excite their fans, but it’s not happening.
UGA’s team is being built for Fields to come in and achieve greatness. He himself has actually helped build it this way by bringing in other guys to play with him in Athens. Let other coaches waste their time talking about him, Fields is focused on something else right now…
