Freshman on the Year: Jake Fromm

This one’s easy. Our young freshman Jake Fromm took over for Jacob Eason in the first quarter in week one and never relinquished the job. Along the way, Fromm completed 145 of his 230 passes for 2,173 yards with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for three scores.

Not great stats, but certainly not terrible. However, it’s the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. His chemistry with the receivers and his presence in the huddle is very advanced for his age.

Fromm very rarely threw more than 15 passes, but he never needed too. He got the job done week after week. And the Bulldogs are 12-1. Teams don’t win with poor quarterbacks.

Honorable mention: D’Andre Swift

Only one freshman came close to making the same impact that Fromm made and that was D’Andre Swift. Despite two of the best running backs in Georgia football history playing in front of him, Swift still made a huge impact.

Swift ran for 597 yards with three touchdowns and caught 15 passes for 146 yards with one touchdowns. That’s 743 yards on 88 touches with four touchdowns. And Georgia still has two more games left. Swift could realistically reach 1,000 all-purpose yards.
