Georgia Football carried their winning ways on the field to the recruiting front today when they locked down 6 5-star prospects in the 2018 class.

Well guys, that was exciting. I don’t think Georgia Football fans have had a better signing day than that one. To make thins even better, this one came just 5 days before Christmas and the Dawgs had plenty of presents under the tree.

So let’s take a quick look at some of the highlights of today. Here’s a recap of just how the last 8 or so hours went down with the 2018 signing class:

It started with Jamaree:

Jamaree Salyer is a big man. I mean when you see him, it’s kind of hard to believe that he’s just a senior in high school. Rated as the number 10 overall prospect in the nation, Salyer was a must get for Georgia. A teammate and good friend of current UGA right tackle Andrew Thomas, Salyer is an even better prospect. He looks like the kind of guy who could be a first-round guard in the NFL.

Those players are very rare and that’s exactly what Salyer is. He bullies defensive tackles with exceptional strength but like Thomas, he’s also very technical. His learning curve is considerably shorter than many players because of the coaching he has already received. Pace Academy does a fantastic job preparing their students for the next level and when you combine that with Salyer’s potential, it’s an exciting mix.

He committed to the Dawgs just after 10 am at a ceremony at the Battery near the new Braves stadium. The event was packed out with Dawg fans and he made a lot of them very happy when he pulled on that cap. Jeff Sentell of Dawgnation has stated that he thinks Salyer might be the most important player in this entire class for UGA. His decision got the ball rolling for Georgia and it never really stopped.
