Georgia pulls Cade Mays out of Tennessee:

Going into today, I didn’t really think we had a chance with Cade Mays. Several of the other writers thought we’d land him, but I never felt confident. I just thought that the negative recruiting that Dabo and Clemson had done would likely work. As we heard today, his tactics worked on another big-time lineman.

There were also rumors around Salyer last week as well. It looked like he was going to put off his commitment after Dabo had said some things about UGA’s program. Ultimately that didn’t work, but I felt that Salyer’s ties to the Dawgs program were the reason why. I never felt that way with Mays who was a Vols commit for basically 2 years.

Well, count me as being wrong. Sam Pittman got his man and in doing so, he built his ‘great wall of Georgia’. This cycle, UGA has recruited a full offensive line thanks to the addition of Mays. Oh, and by the way, these are 5  MASSIVE human beings.

Getting Mays was a huge win for UGA. Not only did they take a legacy from a rival, but they also beat out Clemson for someone they really wanted. These are the kinds of battles that Kirby needs to win because Dabo is not going to stop trying to get the top players out of Georgia. He’s pushing hard to take several top 2019 prospects right now and Georgia needs to keep winning these recruitments. Georgia can’t build a dynasty if it keeps letting top talent go to Clemson.
