‘The Great Wall of Georgia’:

That development has to have gone a long way to explain how the events of yesterday unfolded. UGA battled a lot of top programs for the class they just put together and I have to believe Pittman was the reason they won. It’s hard to argue that any other coach in the country is going to give you a better chance of going to the NFL than the man they call ‘Pitt-Boss’.

And so on early signing day, Pittman finalized the best recruiting class he has ever put together. It started with center Warren Ericson and tackle Owen Condon. Neither are particularly highly rated but both are loved by Pittman. They have size and nastiness and while they might need time, they have all the tools UGA is looking for in a lineman.

But it was the 3 late dominos that fell that surprised everyone. It started with Trey Hill, the nations number 2 guard in this class. Hill has a frame built to play guard and while he will need some time to define his body and work on his technique, the potential to be special is there. Hill committed to UGA just a few weeks before signing day and that seemed to get the ball rolling on ‘the wall’.

On signing day itself, Pittman reeled in his two highest rated recruits to emphatically nail this class. Jamaree Salyer could well be the best prospect Pittman has ever coached. It’s going to be amazing to see what he can do with a player like Salyer and his skillset. He legitimately could win a job as a freshman just like Thomas.

Sticking it to an old foe.

The wall was finished with the addition of Cade Mays, a Tennessee legacy who left the Vols class after they fired the same coach who fired Sam Pittman. How ironic that Pittman would finish off his greatest recruiting achievement by stealing the crown jewel from the only team in the SEC who didn’t realize how good he was.

Now the fun really begins. Pittman has built some of the SEC’s best offensive lines with decent but not elite talent. Now, he is going to have several of the nations very best prospects to work with for the next 4 years. That’s the terrifying thing about all of this for the rest of the SEC. Sam Pittman is just getting started…
