How did he end up at UGA?

It’s been a very long recruiting relationship between White and Georgia. It actually dates back to the previous coaching regime and Mark Richt. Richt offered White back in 2015 and there has long been a line of thinking that White would have committed earlier had no coaching staff change occurred.

But when Kirby Smart came in, White had to get to know a whole new group of people. RB coach Dell McGee made White his top priority over the past few classes and that seemed to have a big effect. It was a long and nervous recruiting process for UGA. While they were always in the mix, it seemed like at every stage of the process, another top school was emerging as a potential destination.

First, it was Clemson as the reigning national champions pushed to bring him in with Trevor Lawrence. Then it was Alabama who has a history themselves of bringing in great backs. Next, it was Ohio State who for a while thought were going to get White to move from North Carolina up to Columbus. Finally, at the end, UNC seemed to be making a run at keeping White home.

But the one constant throughout all of this was Georgia. White was a priority for UGA for a long time and he committed on his Mothers birthday in June. After that, he was true to his word and shut down his recruiting. He visited Athens a few times to help try and bring in some fellow recruits and never went to another school. White is an early enrollee and will start in Athens in just a few weeks.
