What can we expect in Athens?

Mays is going to be stepping into a stacked position group. I don’t think he’s a natural left tackle. He doesn’t seem to have the natural athleticism of the likes of Andrew Thomas. But he absolutely looks like a natural for the right side. When you combine his play and his mentality, he should do really well as a road grader on that side of the line.

The issue is that UGA already has a pretty BIG prospect there from last year. Isaiah Wilson is bigger than Mays. He’s bigger than pretty much everyone to be honest and he redshirted this season. I fully expected him to step in and take the right tackle job in 2018. With Mays on board, that isn’t going to be so easy.

This is what Kirby Smart is talking about. He brought in 1 5-star tackle and gave him a year to adjust. Now he’s bringing in another and he wants them to fight it out for a job. I don’t know who is going to win but I know both players are going to get a lot better. That’s exactly what both needs because they clearly have NFL level talent.

I could see mays taking a redshirt like Wilson if the latter is really ready to claim the starting spot. I don’t know when he is going to start with UGA’s line being so loaded, but whenever he does, look for him to make an impact.

Mays is going to be a huge part of this Georgia football team eventually. It’s just a matter of time because that nastiness will find a way onto the field. It’s just what trench play is all about.
