Georgia Football 2018 recruit: Nations Top OG Jamaree Salyer
What type of player is he?
If you like offensive line play, you are going to LOVE Jamaree Salyer. He is a massive human being and he’s not one of those guys who just rely on size. He’s incredibly strong and bullies defensive tackles at the point of attack. Salyer also possesses very quick feet and athleticism for his position. That’s one of the reason’s he’s so highly ranked. He is able to blow through the line of scrimmage and keep blocking downfield.
The difference between the guy on and off the field is striking as well. Watch his commitment video and you’ll see a very thoughtful and caring person. He’s a genuinely good guy who wants to use his talent to help out his family. On the field, however, Salyer is straight up nasty. He’s not quite Cade Mays (more on him later), but Salyer finishes plays.
When he gets his hands on someone, he physically bullies them. If he’s not driving guys to the ground, he’s throwing them off and looking for the next guy to hit. He has exactly the kind of mentality that Sam Pittman and Kirby smart are looking for in their linemen.
Salyer looks like a natural left guard. He’s a very capable pass blocker who should become elite as he develops. His exceptional run blocking should also make him a great fit next to his Pace Academy alumn Andrew Thomas. Both players are very advanced in their technique thanks to great coaching and you are going to see UGA run a lot towards the left side of the line in the future.
