What can we expect in Athens?

Like I said, I don’t think Cox is going to just play one particular position. He profiles as a tweener who will find his way onto the field in a lot of different ways. Lorenzo Carter is similar in that regard but Cox is not quite the same athlete carter is. He is more unlikely to drop back into coverage like Carter does but he should find a way to make an impact from multiple positions.

Look for Cox to find a way to cause chaos at certain times in his freshman season. Getting in early is going to be huge for Cox, he’ll have a leg up over some of his competition and if Ledbetter stays, he will have a great mentor to learn from.

Cox has the frame to be around 260/270lbs while still being incredibly explosive. He will make an impact all over the field for a creative mind like Kirby and should absolutely be a household name before his time in Athens is over. I firmly believe that Cox will have a fantastic career when all things are said and done at UGA and he’ll be a guy that gets drafted high.

Next: How about another 5-star pass rusher?

Jarvis Jones is another comparison that fans should remember. Jones was a monster during his time in Athens before injuries got in his way in the NFL. Cox has the ability to play with that same explosiveness and still have a great deal of size. He’s certainly going to be a player to keep an eye on starting in spring training.
