How did he end up at UGA?

As I mentioned, James Cook has a rather famous brother. Dalvin broke a tonne of records at FSU and will likely go down in history as one of the best to ever play in Tallahassee. It seemed likely that James would follow his brother’s footsteps. He committed to Florida State back in March 2016 and was considered a sure thing for FSU.

Things started to change about a year later. Georgia really started to push for him as Spring turned to summer and Cook seemed to be interested. While UGA led for Zamir White, that never seemed to put Cook off. The few interviews he gave suggested that he was very interested in being a part of a committee at a school rather than a bell cow.

When Georgia signed White at the end of June, things continued to heat up with Cook. He decommitted shortly after and UGA was seen as the school to beat. Cook took an official visit in September and that seemed to seal the deal. Dell McGee connected really well with Cook’s mother and she fell in love with how the school wanted to look after her son.

Cook is a very quiet person and he’s not like a lot of big-time high school players. McGee really focused on trying to make Cook into the man that he can be and that was music to his family’s ears. Cook committed to UGA on October 26th to honor the birthday of his childhood friend who was killed just under 2 years ago.
