What type of player is he?

Cook is a different type of running back that his brother. Dalvin really was the complete package. He could run through the tackles and had great burst and acceleration to take it to the house. James is smaller than his brother, currently weighing around 190lbs. He’s more explosive, however, in fact, there is a good chance he could be the most explosive back on UGA’s roster next year.

While he’s still a bit slight, Cook will likely get over 200lbs when he gets with UGA’s S&C staff. He should be able to do that while not losing any of his burst and that is where he excels. Some are terming White and Cook as a ‘Thunder and Lightning’ partnership. I’m not a fan of that because, to me, it undersells Zamir. White is crazy fast himself and he’s a lot more than just a power runner.

But James Cook is absolutely a ‘Lightning’ type back. Whenever he gets the ball in space, he is a threat to take the ball the difference. He can make even the best tacklers miss thanks to his quickness and change of direction. Cook is really good catching out of the backfield and I think he could well be used in a similar way to D’Andre Swift next season.
