What can we expect in Athens?

With Chubb and Michel leaving Athens, there is certainly space for Cook to make an impact. Zamir White’s knee injury will also likely give him more playing time in 2018 than I initially thought. I think it’s likely that going into next year that Cook will have the same role that D’Andre Swift had in 2017. He will force Jim Chaney to get him the ball 5 times or more a game and he has the ability to make one or ‘splash’ play a game.

As time goes on, and backs start heading to the NFL, look for Cook to move into the same role that Sony Michel held. He is the perfect compliment to Zamir White and splitting time will really suit him. We’ve seen this year how keeping top backs fresh makes them more dangerous and Cook will be no different. I really can’t wait to see exactly how much of an impact he has on the team.

Cook should follow his brother into the NFL one day. He has that kind of talent even if he’s not quite as complete of a player, at least not yet. But he does have very rare traits and he’ll be the kind of weapons fans love to watch on Saturdays. He will be a reliable outlet for whoever is playing QB and should put together some really great stats by the time he’s done in Athens.

Next: Now let's look at Brenton Cox

Cook’s success will further solidify UGA’s reputation as RBU going forward. The fact that the Dawgs seem to almost always as have 3, maybe even 4 future NFL RB’s is going to be a feature of this team under Kirby Smart. That should give fans plenty to look forward to on Saturdays.
