How did he end up at UGA?

Despite signing early, this was no a rushed decision for Luke Ford. He committed to Arkansas in March but began to change his mind as the offseason went on. Arkansas had a policy that committed players should not visit other schools and that didn’t go down well with Ford. He had only visited 2 schools when he committed and he wanted to see what else was out there.

That’s why he decommitted in June. Ford wanted to actually talk to some of the coaches who had made him a scholarship offer and he couldn’t do that as an Arkansas commitment. After decommitting, It was clear that a lot of big-time programs were going to come after Ford.

Georgia came into the picture during the summer when Ford was a part of several camps. He was on the same team as Justin Fields at The Opening and helped them win the overall competition. This success began a great relationship between the two and Ford made it clear that he’d like to play with Fields.

UGA Tight ends coach Shane Beamer pushed hard to bring Ford to Athens. While Auburn and Alabama were also in the race, Georgia’s position strengthened when Fields committed in October. Eventually, Ford pulled the trigger the day after Fields and signed straight after.
