Oklahoma doesn’t have a great defense.

The Sooners are a really good team, but their defense, particularly their run defense,  is the weakest unit of all four of the playoff teams. So they are preparing to sell out to stop the run.  They also know that our freshman quarterback is going to hit a big play occasionally in the passing game to Javon Wims, Terry Godwin, and Mecole Hardman. So that’s what they have to defend. They have no choice.  This is going to create opportunities for the Georgia TEs.

I could see a couple of mismatches in this game where the Sooner defensive backs are having to defend these physical receivers like Godwin and Wims and that leaving tight ends wide open. Make no mistake about it, folks, these UGA tight ends are dangerous playmakers when given the chance.

They’ll have that chance Monday in the Rose Bowl. This is something that can help Jake Fromm have a great day passing the ball.  Look for Chaney to take advantage of this secret weapon that Oklahoma will not be able to completely cover due to them having to focus on stopping the run and cover the UGA WRs on the outside.

Baker Mayfield is going to make plays in the passing game.  The Georgia defense and running backs will both make plays. Those are given. One or maybe even two touchdowns from Isaac Nauta, Jeb Blazevich, and perhaps Charlie Woerner, though, would be the edge the Dawgs need to win the Rose Bowl and punch their ticket to the national championship game.
