Defensive line play:

It’s not just offensive lines that matter for these teams. Both of these two units also happen to play terrific defense, especially on the front end. That is one of the main reasons why this could end up being such a good game. It’s going to be strength vs strength for both teams.

Bama probably has the more talented front on the defense side. They are loaded with former top recruits, several of whom could go very early in the NFL draft. Running up the gut hasn’t been an option for any team against Bama for about 10 years. Georgia is going to have to do something pretty special to move those guys around.

While UGA doesn’t quite have the same level of talent as Bama on the line, it’s overall unit is no less impressive. Trenton Thompson is the only 5-star for UGA on this unit, but it has plenty of depth with other players. Tyler Clark and Jonathan Ledbetter have both really stepped up their play this year. When this unit plays at it’s best, they are just as good as Alabama.

Again, it would be hard to pick one unit over the other until we see them play. Undoubtedly, these are two of the best defensive fronts in college football right now. Both sides are loaded with players that will be getting drafted in the next few years. So often with these types of players, it’s a question of who really want to win this game more. That test of wills is going to be amazing to watch because whoever wins the line of scrimmage, is going to win this game.
