This might come down to Quarterback:

After all of that writing an rambling, every time I look at this matchup, I keep seeing it come down to one thing. Quarterback play. Neither of these teams has really leaned on their QB much this season until now.

Jalen Hurts and Jake Fromm have both been very efficient and good at what their teams have needed them to do this year. Hurts runs the ball more effectively than he throws it and he’s a real weapon in that regard. His ability to move the chains when protection breaks down makes this offense tick.

Fromm is more of a classic passer. He might not have a huge arm or the perfect physical stats, but the guy seems to call a great game. The way the team has played since the introduction of the RPO offense with him in there has been impressive and he quickly finds his playmakers more often than not.

This is a classic battle between new age and old school QB. Hurts is in many ways the modern QB. He has a good arm and he’s athletic as heck. Plenty of defenses have failed to contain him as he leads his team down the field. Fromm throws the ball most of the time and he is certainly better than Hurts at that part of the game. His accuracy and decision making are his strongest attributes and that has helped transform this UGA team.

This isn’t a prediction piece, so I’m not going to say which QB I think will play better. But I do believe that it’s clear to me that whoever does will likely be the difference. That’s a lot of pressure on two very young players, but that’s life as a Quarterback. Right now, I’m just hoping that it will be Jake Fromm who lights up Atlanta.
