Georgia Football: Dawgs to cheer for this Wildcard Weekend
Todd Gurley: RB Los Angeles Rams
Now this will be a tough one for Dawg fans. Gurley has a special place in Dawg fans hearts and might well be the best player many younger ones have ever seen between the hedges. He has become a genuine MVP candidate this season and could walk away with the award with a big postseason performance.
But Gurley is going to take on our hometown Atlanta Falcons tonight. So fans are going to have to pick between the Falcons and one of their favorite sons. Never an easy decision. For me, I’m probably going to cheer for Gurley, he remains one of my all-time favorite Dawgs. I’ve also never really been a big Falcons fan so that helps.
Watching him this season has been an absolute joy. Gurley has taken his game to a whole new level under head coach Sean McVay. He’s accounted for more than 2000 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. There is no doubt that McVay has found a way to turn Gurley into an all-purpose weapon, He’s never been under in the passing game in the same way that he has this season and it makes a huge difference.
The Rams are one of the most fun teams to watch this year. Gurley and 2nd year QB Jared Goff have both taken huge steps this year. Like the chiefs, they could make some real noise in this year’s playoffs. If they do, it will likely be down to Gurley who is really fulfilling his potential right now.
Game: Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams SAT 8.15 pm EST
