Georgia Football: 5 Dawgs who could break out in Atlanta
2. D’Andre Swift:
I might be cheating a bit by putting Swift on here. He’s hardly under the radar right now and based on the fact that I saw him being interviewed on ESPN yesterday, it’s safe to say that the country knows who he is.
But Swift was quiet in the Rose Bowl. With Chubb and Michel both playing so well., he had very limited opportunities and he didn’t take them. The one run I really remember was him ignoring the gap in front of him on a 3rd down and trying to bounce the ball outside and running into Andrew Thomas. That stop cost UGA a lot of momentum.
But let’s just remember who Swift is. This is a guy who has looked pretty much incredible this season. A do it all back, Swift can catch the ball as well as he can run it. He has also earned Kirby Smarts trust when it comes to pass protection. Bama won’t be able to exploit him there like the did Travis Etienne against Clemson.
We all remember that TD against Auburn. There is no greater reminder of just how dangerous Swift is when he gets the ball in space. While he was quiet last week, I have no doubt that Georgia will find a way to use him tonight. We will likely still see plenty fo Nick and Sony, but Swift will get his touches.
One play could be what decides this game. Based off his season so far, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was Swift who made it.
