Georgia Football: Title game showed best and worst of sports
The National Championship game that Georgia Football lost last night was a match for the ages. It’s just a shame that off the field, we can’t enjoy the greatness of sport like we used to.
Well that’s it Dawg fans. The season is officially over and what a season it has been. Georgia might have lost to Alabama but there is a lot to be proud of when we remember the 2017 Georgia Football team.
They rebounded from an 8-5 record last year. They went unbeaten in their division and won the SEC East. After that, they won both the SEC championship and the Rose Bowl as underdogs an they took the greatest college dynasty in history to overtime in the biggest game of them all.
There will be lots of questions to be asked as the off-season comes around. But for the meantime, I think it’s worth looking back at that last game. What a game it was. Georgia played their hearts out and gave their all. But as amazing as the game was on the field, there were several negatives that took away from what should have been college footballs brightest moment of the year.
One of the things I’ll always remember about this game, is how it encapsulated all that was good and bad about sports. The pure product on the field was lights out, but the hubbub on the outside was and still is a bit of a mess.
While college sports remains the purest form of athletic competition, it’s not all sunshine and roses anymore. Anyway, let’s look at what was so special about last night, starting with the incredible level of performance from both sides.
