Georgia Football: Title game showed best and worst of sports
Great people and leadership all around
It’s hard not to like the 2017 Bulldogs. Unless your a Gator fan of course. But this was an incredible and likeable team, because it had great people running right through it. Sure there are always a few bad apples and boy did UGA miss Natrez Patrick on the field in this game.
But both sides were largely made up of good guys and the game was played with respect. Nick Sony Michel and Nick Chubb will go down as all time legends at Georgia. They were leaders as much as they were great players and you saw that last night.
Roquan Smith and Lorenzo Carter played out of their minds. They led this defense to do really incredible things right until the end. Kirby Smart and his coaches had their guys ready to play and well prepared. Yes, the Dawgs fell short, but it was by inches, not a mile.
Not only is that good to watch, but it’s also great for the program going forward. Players like Jake Fromm and Richard LeCounte have had 1 full year in this culture. Those young players have seen what it takes to climb to the mountain top. They have been led by men who are going to pass on the mantle as the had on to pro ball.
There is a lot to be proud of when it comes to this team. They play hard, they come from behind, they stomp on weaker teams and they keep chopping wood. But nothing should make fans prouder than the type of men they have become during their time at UGA. Those guys were a credit to their school last night and we won’t forget it.
