2018 is a whole new year

Ok, that’s it people, rant over. I promise not to mention politics again in an article for the rest of 2018. At least, I promise not to do it so long as politicians stay away from college football!

All jokes aside, Dawg fans have a lot of emotions to process right now. There’s regret, disappointment, anger and sadness. At the same time however, there are a lot of good things we should be feeling as well, like happiness, pride and hope.

Yes our Dawgs didn’t win it all. It was close, you can go back and see how if things were different they could have been lifting the trophy, but they didn’t. Moving on, there will be a lot of great memories we’ll all have from this 2017 team.

Jake Fromm stepping in and saving our season. Going to Notre Dame. That flea flicker to start the Mississippi State game, god that was glorious. Shutting out the Vols in THEIR stadium and making their fans cry. Beating Florida so badly, they found an excuse to fire their head coach. Avenging our only previous loss and crushing Auburn to win the SEC for the first time in 12 years. And the Rose Bowl. What. A. Game.

Next: Where does UGA go from here?

So hold your heads high Dawg Nation. This team leaves us with a lifetime of good memories as well as a feeling of hope for the future. Some all time greats are leaving but there are plenty more who have just arrived. If there’s one thing we learned about Kirby this year, it’s that the man loves a bit of revenge. After last night, I kind of think the 2018 Dawgs will be chomping at the bit for it…
