How did he end up at UGA?

Honestly, this might be the hardest section to write regarding any of UGA’s signing class. That’s because Ericson did not exactly have a complicated recruiting process. In fact, it might well have been the simplest of all of the players that signed in December.

Let’s start by saying that this is a guy with a lot of offers. Basically, every SEC and ACC school offered him as well as Michigan and Michigan State. He was heavily in demand after his junior season because of his versatility and nasty play.

But Ericson never really gave interviews, nor did he put things out on social media about things. Instead, out of nowhere on June 2nd, he just quietly announced his commitment to the home state Dawgs. After that, he still pretty much said nothing. He was locked in and that was that.

It’s a great example of how not all recruits like the attention. In this day and age, we hear lots of complaints about how much these players play to the media. Well not everyone is like that and Ericson certainly isn’t.

Behind the scenes, however, he wasn’t silent. It seems like he worked to try and recruit the likes of Jamaree Salyer and Trey Hill to Athens. Despite the fact that both of those guys play a similar position to him, Ericson wanted them to join him. That says all you need to know about the guy, to be honest.
