Georgia Football 2018 recruit: Lineman Warren Ericson
What can we expect in Athens?
A seriously nasty dude. Ericson is already on campus as an early enrollee and will be going through spring training with the likes of Cade Mays and Trey Hill. That’s three really good young linemen in the building early, learning under Sam Pittman.
Ericson’s development will depend a lot on Lamont Gaillard. If Gaillard stays for his senior year, which I expect him too, Ericson will likely redshirt. He, Salyer and Hill will all battle it out this year for the role of future center. I think that is a role that Ericson will probably win.
Salyer is someone that I expect to play left guard as soon as next season and Hill will likely battle for the other spot. Ericson has the experience handling the ball to take that Center roll. If Gaillard stays, he will have an excellent chance to apprentice under someone who has become truly proficient at the position.
I think him being 50lbs lighter than those two also helps him in this regard. Sam Pittman wants his guards to be big maulers, but he likes athletic centers. Gaillard has shown how well a player with those traits can fit in this UGA line. I see a lot of similarity in their games, although I do think Ericson has greater potential.

In the long term, I can see Ericson being the center at UGA for 2 or 3 years. His physical ability and his nasty attitude will make him a lot of fans at Georgia. He’ll be a name we likely don’t hear very often but see a lot of the field. That’s a pretty damn good thing for an offensive lineman and it’s one of the reasons I think Ericson will be an elite player in Athens.
