Georgia Football 2018 recruit: Cornerback Chris Smith
What can we expect in Athens?
I’m a big fan of Smith. Truthfully, I think he could be the sneaky great player from lower down the rankings we’re talking about in a few years. Everything I’ve read and heard him say leads me to believe this is a terrific young man who can be a leader one day for the Dawgs. That’s exactly what he’s done at Hapeville Charter.
Smith is known to have a relentless work ethic and he’s been described by Dawgnation as ‘football junkie’. This is a guy who has focused on becoming the bets cornerback he can for a long time. He spends his off time in the weight room and with his head buried in the playbook. Smith has a drive to be as good he possibly can.
That’s the sort of attitude Kirby Smart loves from his players. It’s why I can see Smith winning a job over other more talented players. Nobody is ever going to outwork him and the sort of attitude should rub off really well on other players.
Next: Now lets look at Nadab Jospeh
Smith is going to have an impact in Athens. Whether it’s in the slot, on the outside or even the star position, the guy is too driven not to do something in Athens. While I don’t expect that impact to be instant and in year 1, I do think when he’s ready, he will be a name we hear quite a bit about.
