Georgia Football said goodbye to a 5-star QB today wen last years starter Jacob Eason announced on twitter that he would be leaving Athens.

I think we all knew it would come to this. Georgia Football will say goodbye to one of it’s 5-Star quarterbacks today. 2016 starter Jacob Eason announced on Twitter that he had decided to leave Athens and head to another school.

Eason looked like a potential 3 years starter at UGA in his first season. He threw for 2,430 yards and 16 touchdowns in his freshman year. When Jake Fromm arrived, the two became friends as well as competitors and by all accounts, Eason won the starting job out of camp.

But then on the third drive of the season, Eason was pushed out of bounds and twisted his knee. The rest is history as Jake Fromm came in and played really well. By the time Eason was healthy enough to practice again, Fromm had cemented his place as the starting QB.

By all accounts, Eason was a great teammate. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, he really bonded with Fromm and worked hard to help him prepare for the games. Fans who watched the aftermath of the National Championship loss likely saw Eason wait for Fromm and put his arm around him as they left the field. A touching gesture and one the team and Fromm won’t likely forget.

Next: Checking in on CB Chris Smith

Eason is expected to transfer to the University of Washington, near where he went to high school. He will have to sit out 2018, but with Jake Browning a senior, he will have a great shot to the starting job in 2019. Good luck out there Jacob, Dawg nation wishes you the best of luck and hopefully we see you in the playoff again one day!
