Georgia Football 2018 recruit: DT Devonte Wyatt
How did he end up at UGA?
Watt hand a long road to Athens. He was a UGA commit back in the 2017 class and he selected the Bulldogs over South Carolina. The Gamecocks came after him pretty hard before signing day and tried really hard o flip him, but Wyatt stayed true to his word.
Unfortunately, That was where the real drama started for Wyatt. He worked hard to get his grades, but unfortunately, he missed out on his requirements by the time summer enrollment came around. He was unable to head to Georgia with the rest of his classmates.
So Wyatt went to Hutchinson Community College and worked hard to get the B grade he needed to get into Georgia. Dawgnation reporter Jeff Sentell did a great piece all about Wyatt’s plan to get into Georgi and be a part of the 2018 class.
In it Wyatt made it clear that he’d push hard to get into Athens in January so that he essentially only missed 1 semester of school, even though that was 1 year of football. Wyatt ended up achieving his goal. He got his grades and enrolled in Georgia in December before other early enrollees arrived. He was actually in town and able to take part in Rose Bowl practices although he obviously couldn’t play in the playoff games.
