What type of player is he?

If there was one word I had to use to describe FitzPatrick it would be physical. They just don’t make many people who are that big and it’s crazy to watch him play receiver. I feel bad for defensive backs trying to go up against him sometimes. I don’t understand how they are supposed to stop him on a jump ball.

What I like most about his highlights, however, is his blocking. That’s one of the things that Kirby Smart has been preaching since he got to Athens. If you want to touch the ball, you have to block first. It’s an issue that Issac Nauta has struggled with at times since he got here. FitzPatrick comes from an offense where he’s had to do that for the past few years. He’s not going to have a problem adapting to that.

FitzPatrick is going to need to put on some weight when he gets into Athens. That shouldn’t be an issue for this strength and conditioning team. When he does, it shouldn’t be ignored that this guy is nearly 6-7. He can easily carry around 250lbs and still have the movement and speed that he has right now.

If he gets there, the tight end position is going to be in good hands. Luke Ford is probably more ready to play because he has that good weight already, but FitzPatrick is a similar kind of player. Between the two of them, UGA can run some truly scary 2 tight end sets in the future. Not only could they both be legit targets in the passing game, but their run blocking as well with really keep teams guessing.
