What can we expect in Athens?

With Issac Nauta and Charlie Woerner still just rising juniors, FitzPatrick should have plenty of experience around him from which to learn. Jeb Blazevich helped pass down his experience to those two guys over the past couple of seasons. Now they are going to be the vets who have to do the same thing with Ford and FitzPatrick.

That will likely mean that Ford and FitzPatrick will take some time to see the field. Although if the injury bug strikes, both of them could well find themselves taking snaps early. Just because of his size, FitzPatrick will likely have to wait a little longer than Ford. He still has a ways to go in getting strong enough to play at the next level.

But he’ll get there and when he does, look out. Ford and FitzPatrick are one of the main reasons why I think that UGA is such a great place for QB’s right now. The offense is loaded right now and tight end is no different. Both of these guys could be stars at other schools. At UGA, they will be a cog in what could become one of the best offenses in football.

With Jake Fromm getting more settled and Justin Fields now in Athens, look for Georgia to use the tight ends more over the next few years. I fully expect FitzPatrick to carve out a nice career for himself during his time between the hedges. He might not end up starting until his junior year, but the guy is going to make an impact eventually.
